Rumors were swirling about the potential return of the three Spider-Men in the film, but Cox wasn’t in the loop, just had a hunch that both he and Garfield might have been filming for the same movie together in Atlanta. Eager to clear things up, Cox shot Garfield a text and that ensued a hilarious back and forth between the two. He narrated (via@bellnclarke on X),

One of my dear friends is Andrew Garfield, so I had read that he was in it [Spider-Man: No Way Home] and heard from a couple of people that it was probably true. When I got to Atlanta to film, I texted him, if the trades said to be believed, we were in the same movie. He replied saying, “No, dude, I’m doing Spider-Man.” So I wrote back, saying, “Yeah, we’re in the same movie,” and he was like, “You’re in Spider-Man?” I said, “Yeah,” and he was like, “You’re not in the script.” I replied, “I am in my script.”

After that chat, the two finally decided to meet up, and the story of their rendezvous was just as amusing. They had to secure a table facing the wall to avoid drawing much attention. As Cox continued,

We then arranged to meet up and sat down in a restaurant in Atlanta. As soon as I sat down, both of us looked at each other and thought, This isn’t a good look—if we get photographed here, it probably wouldn’t be seen as a professional way to conduct business. So we ended up choosing a table where both of us were facing the wall.

After that, Garfield’s talent for deflecting every question about his role in the movie was truly impressive. Despite numerous attempts by fans and even Emma Stone to extract information, he remained an enigma, with no one able to uncover his secret.
