EA has released a newGridiron Noteswhich outlines a new major update forMadden NFL 25. Highlighting this update is the inclusion of the legendary move from a few weeks back that was pulled off by Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. Playing against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Barkley pulled off a backwards hurdle and the devs absolutely wanted to get this in as quick as possible and not just add it as a feature to next year’s title. The update also includes new Superstar X-Factor players with the addition of C.J. Stroud, Nico Collins, Aidan Hutchinson, Antoine Winfield, Jr and Quinnen Williams.The team also added thirteen new face scans and made adjustments to the playbook with the addition of new plays to specific teams.
“It’s rare, this day and age, to see something that’s never been done before. That’s when we knew we wanted it in-game,” said Spade.
Triggering the Backwards Hurdle
This move won’t be for every player as Saquon will be the one player who can pull this off. The team went through hours of real-life motion capture animations to find the best way to combine animations to pull this move off. It came from old Superstar Mode motion capture and a little “animator magic”. Triggering this as Saquon will be super specific as the defender must be coming in from a 45-degree angle in front of the ball carrier and be within close proximity of the ball carrier. The hurdle button is triggered at the right time to pull this off. Madden had previously had a rare animation featuring the diving throw from Patrick Mahomes that eventually carried over to other players.
