The latest poster for the upcoming horror spinoff,Bird Box Barcelona, warns audiences to “fear the ones who see.” All set to land onNetflixnext month,Bird Box Barcelonathreatens to transport audiences back to the terrifying world of the 2018 post-apocalyptic horror outing,Bird Box, dropping us in Spain and into the midst of the chaos that ensues after mysterious entities have invaded earth. Detailing a whole new set of horrors that run parallel to those experienced by Sandra Bullock in the firstBird Box,Bird Box Barcelonawill center on a father and daughter as they join up with other survivors to try and survive this dystopian future in which no-one survives looking at entities that now roam the planet.Bird Box Barcelonawill debut in July, with the project being described as “the first of multiple local-language Bird Box spinoffs” all of which will be set in the same universe.

“After a mysterious force decimates the world’s population by causing all who see it to take their lives, Sebastian and his young daughter Anna must navigate their own journey of survival through the desolate streets of Barcelona,” the official synopsis forBird Box Barcelonareads. “But as they form an uneasy alliance with other survivors and make their way toward a safe haven, a threat more sinister than the unseen creatures grows.”
The Spanish-language spin-off has been written and directed by Alex and David Pastor (The Occupant, The Head) and stars Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Patrick Criado, Celia Freijeiro with Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo de Castro, Michelle Jenner and Leonardo Sbaraglia.Bird Boxproducers Dylan Clark and Chris Morgan have returned to the post-apocalyptic world for the spinoff outing alongside Adrián Guerra and Núria Valls for Nostromo Pictures, with Susanne Bier, Josh Malerman, Ryan Lewis, Ainsley Davies for Chris Morgan Productions and Brian Williams for Dylan Clark Productions on board as executive producers.

The First Bird Box Was a Major Hit for Netflix
Based on the 2014 novel of the same name by Josh Malerman, the firstBird Boxintroduces audiences to a world where a mysterious force has decimated the population. While almost nothing is known about this “force,” it does come with a very simply set of rules - if you see it, you die. Led by Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock as Malorie Hayes,Bird Boxfollows Malorie as she attempts to survive and search out hope and a new beginning. Protecting her children fromwhatever it is that’s out there, Malorie must journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. To make it, they’ll have to cover their eyes from the evil that chases them.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from both critics and audiences alike,Bird Boxwas a major hit for Netflix upon release. Proving to be hugely popular with viewers,Bird Boxtook the title of the most-watched film on Netflix within 28 days of release (a title it has since lost to the action movieRed Notice) and was watchedby almost 26 million viewersin its first week in the United States.
Only time will tell whether audiences wish to once again strap on a blindfold and stumble around the world ofBird Box, but clearly the streaming gianthas big plans for the franchise.
Bird Box Barcelonais now scheduled to debut on Netflix on July 22, 2025.
