Larry David isn’t done yet. HBO has announced thatCurb Your Enthusiasm, the acclaimed and long-running comedy series, is returning for season 11. The renewal comes after the show was revived in 2017, with the show originally going off the air following season 8 in 2011. But the positive reception to the last couple of seasons has prompted theSeinfeldcreator and HBO to keep things going for at least one more season.
Little has been revealed aboutCurb Your Enthusiasmseason 11 at this point. It isn’t clear when production will begin, nor is it clear how many episodes it will consist of. But the renewal will push the series past the 100 episode mark, which is quite the impressive milestone. Susie Essman, Jeff Garlin, Cheryl Hines, Richard Lewis, J.B. Smoove and Ted Danson also star on the show. Guest stars in season 10 included Laverne Cox, Jon Hamm, Sean Penn, Kaitlin Olson, Jonah Hill, Jane Krakowski, Abbi Jacobson and Chris Martin. Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, had this to say in a statement.
“Thispast season tapped into the zeitgeistin such an uncomfortably delightful way. Larry is already busy writing, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store.”
Curb Your EnthusiasmseesLarry David playing a heightened version of himself. The show shoots without a script, with the actors getting descriptions of the scenes ahead of time. It is largely improvised, which has made for a winning formula. The renewal also makes it HBO’s longest-running scripted series, both in terms of seasons and episode count. David had this to say about the renewal in something of a tongue-in-cheek statement.
“Believe me, I’m as upset about this as you are. One day I can only hope thatHBOwill come to their senses and grant me the cancellation I so richly deserve.”
The show originally hit the air in 2000. During its run, it has received 43 Emmy nominations, with two wins under its belt. Season 10 debuted in January and was met with a largely positive response from audiences and critics alike. The season boasts a very impressive 95 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the series carrying a 92 percent rating overall. It seemsLarry David is still at the top of his game. With that, the renewal makes a great deal of sense. Especially when taking the larger picture into account.
