Developer CD Projekt Red shares that upcoming sci-fi title Cyberpunk 2077 most likely won’t be coming to the Switch according interview withGamespot.
Cyberpunk 2077 Probably Won’t Be on the Switch
In an interview with CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais, he shared that while the team had never fathomed that theWitcher 3"would be possible on Switch", havingCyberpunk 2077follow in its footsteps was highly unlikely. But the Switcher releases today on the Nintendo Switch, however seeing the action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077 as a port does not look like it will happen. But I guess you could take a small spark of hope, as this was not imagined for the Witcher at one point:
Who would have thought a game like The Witcher 3 would be possible on Switch, so who knows? I guess we’ll see, if we decide to put it on the Switch, if we can do it. Probably not.
If you were wondering what route the developer would go down in terms of future content, Mamais did discuss his view of microtransactions as well as how the DLC program worked for The Witcher 3, and whether a it would be the same for Cyberpunk:
I think it’s a bad idea to do microtransactions after you release a game. It seems like it’s very profitable, though. It’s probably a hard decision for the guy that runs the business to decide if we should do it or not. But if everyone hates it, why would we do something like that and lose the goodwill of our customers?
[The Witcher 3’s free DLC with big paid expansions] was a good model for us; it worked pretty well for The Witcher 3. I don’t see why we wouldn’t attempt to replicate that model with Cyberpunk 2077. We’re not talking about that yet, but it seems like that would be the smart way to go.
The Witcher 3: Wild Huntreleases on October 15th on the Nintendo Switch. Cyberpunk 2077 will be releasing on April 16th 2020 for Google Stadia, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
