While the demons ofDemon Slayerare much stronger than any human, they all suffer from being unable to walk in the sun. Being hit with even the faintest beams from sunrise is more than enough to turn even the strongest demons into ashes, and that’s one thing Tanjiro has been making sure Nezuko avoids.

For the first few seasons of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro has carried his sister in a sunlight-proof box, allowing her to be protected from the sun while he is traveling during the day. In the final episode, Nezuko is caught in sunlight but is soon given yet another reason why she isn’t like other demons.
How Is Nezuko Immune To The Sun
From the beginning of Demon Slayer, Nezuko has been shown tobe very different from other demons. Not being directly linked to Muzan like other demons, she canact independently of his will and not be destroyed for helping the Demon Slayersfight other demons.
Nezuko is also different because shehas never consumed a humansince becoming a demon. She canregenerate her strength by sleepinginstead. Nezuko alsocomes from a bloodline that has passed down the Hinokami Kagaradance, which is closely linked to sun breathing. Upon turning into a demon,Nezuko received a very large amount of blood from Muzan, making her much stronger and different than other demons. While none of these facts are directly stated to be the reason for her immunity, they are all the things that set her apart from other demons and all possible causes for her immunity.

Why Muzan Makes Demons
One of the possible factors of Nezuko’s immunity is the large amount of blood Muzan gave her. Theamount of blood Muzan provides a demon directly links to their overall power, but too much blood can often destroy a weaker person or demon from the inside out. As of now, Muzan himself cannot walk in sunlight, andhis ultimate goal is to walk in sunlight again and no longer be limited to the night.
Muzan is attempting to either find a cure for the effects of sunlight, using theBlue Spider Lilly (which initially turned him into a demon),or by creating a demon that can withstand the sun.Muzan constantly creates new demonsto have foot soldiers tohelp him stop the demon slayers and to help him find the Blue Spider Lilly.He also makesdemons with large amounts of his blood to try to create one that is immune to sunlightand then absorb them to get immunity himself. Muzan gave Tanjiro’s entire family large amounts of his blood simply in experimentation, and Nezuko is the success of that experiment.
