Developer Larian Studios has posted a newdevelopment updateforDivinity: Original Sin 2that shares some of the new additions they’ve made to the game. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is presently in early access and will release September 14th on PC.
Divinity Original Sin 2 Developer Update
Divinity: Original Sin 2 will have controller support for PC on release! Furthermore, the game will support split screen play with controller support. In addition, you can use controllers and split screen to play a four player game on two connected PC’s. 4 person co-op!
Another new feature unveiled is skill crafting. By combining any elemental book with a non-elemental book you will create a new skill. As an example, they combined a necromancy and fire spell to get a new and powerful ability called Corpse Explosion. This should open up new and interesting ways to combine properties.

In addition to skill crafting, Larian is also introducing Rune Crafting. Players can find or craft runes to improve weapons and gear. By combining various items and materials you create a rune. You can then enchant items with available rune slots to give the piece of gear additional effects. This should bolster the crafting system and give players plenty of options related to upgrades.
From a visual/graphical standpoint the game will now feature ragdoll physics and better death animations that are relevant to the death suffered. For example if you catch fire and die, instead of a pile of ash, you will be a pile of scorched bones. This extends into ragdoll physics, that will send bodies flying in depending on their location in the environment. For example if a character dies on a hill, the ragdoll effects will send them tumbling down.

These developer updates from Larian are always full of new reveals and are building anticipation for the game’s full release, just a little over a month away. Thoughts on how the game is shaping up? Let us know in the comments.
