If there’s one boss in all ofClair Obsur: Expedition 33that stands out, it’s the Dualliste. While there definitely are more interesting and multi-layered fights in the 20-50-hour experience, Dualliste is something that looks like it was pulled straight out of a FromSoftware game. Its dual-wielding abilities put the player to the test as this boss best strives in its ability to catch you off guard with the sheer number of attacks thrown at you at once. Hopefully, this guide will help you take down the Dualliste with ease, and let you witness the rather cinematic conclusion.

In an era of death and destruction, sometimes a little bit of fun is needed in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

Dualliste Moveset

Description

Dualliste attacks swiftly.

This is a six-hit combo that incorporates two Jump attacks in the front end of the attack. The pattern speed isnormal > jump > jump > normal > normal > normal.

Dualliste attacks the Expedition.

This is a two-part attack that hits the entire party with Earth damage. This is probably the easiest attack Dualliste has in his arsenal, as when his sword is completely vertical to the ground, you may parry, with the follow-up coming immediately as the sound effect cues.

Dualliste performs a combo.

Going from the easiest attack to the hardest, the combo will no doubt trip a lot of players up due to its multi-speed attacks and even a Gradient attack at the end. Its rhythm isnormal > fast > normal > normal > fast > normal > fast > normal > Gradient.

Dualliste uses Stormblood.

This is a surprisingly fast four-hit combo. The problem with this attack is identifying the depth of the attacks, because Dualliste will summon multiple shadows to attack at different angles from the camera. The speed of all attacks is normal, with maybe the final hit coming from Dualliste himself being slightly slower than the rest.

The first Dark Souls-looking boss in all of Expedition 33, this dual-bladed enemy is a surprisingly fun boss to fight due to its difficulty not being too high, but at the same time offering a bit of a challenge thanks to its multi-hit attacks.

Unfortunately, this boss is resistant to fire damage, so the go-to burn technique is far less effective this time around. Maelle struggles slightly because of this, and, to a certain degree, Lune, but these two will still shine in other areas (such as the former’s Virtuose stance). Definitely utilize Verso in this fight because of Dualliste’s Light weakness, while having someone like Sciel can be a determinant considering her kit is somewhat built around Darkness damage.

Regardless, whenever the Dualliste “attacks the Expedition”, it becomes a very good time to punish the boss, because parrying this two-hit combo is by far the easiest of the bunch. The swift attack is the next easiest attack, with two jumps that can deal damage in-between the normal attacks.

Unfortunately, the combo and Stormblood attacks are a little more challenging to figure out. The Combo is a lengthy nine-hit attack that implements a couple of fast attacks, but thankfully the forgiving Gradient at the end allows for some punishment if you miss any of these strikes.

Stormblood, on the other hand, requires a little bit of depth perception as Dualliste will summon various shadows to attack you from all angles. The best suggestion for getting used to this pattern is as soon as you see the bloody shadow appear, wait half a second before pressing the parry button. While this is a main story boss, you should get used to some of these patterns as there’s at least one side quest much later on that puts you up against this powerful swordsman.
