According to a report fromDeadline, Paramount+ has landed an eight-episode TV series based on the infamous RPG franchise,Dungeons & Dragons. It will be adapted into a live-action series in collaboration between Paramount Pictures and Hasbro’s internal studio eOne, withNetflix’s Red Notice director Rawson Marshall Thuber taking the helm for the project.

Deadline reported that eOne first pitched the show back in November, garnering attention from potential buyers that are interested in producing a TV series based on Hasbro’s immensely popular RPG franchise. Afterwards, eOne agreed to a deal with Paramount+ after a competitive situation, with the series to be produced in collaboration between the two companies. This will be the second gaming title to be adapted into television by the hands of Paramount+, as the streamer previously created an original series based on Xbox’sHalofranchise.

Rawson Marshall Thuber will write the script while also assuming the directorial duties for the Dungeons & Dragons TV series. He is currently working on multiple sequels to Red Notice while also co-writing and directing a feature film based on Voltron at Amazon. His notable work also includes Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, We’re the Millers, Central Intelligence, and Skyscraper. Any further information about the cast and staff of the project has not been revealed yet.

Hasbro has been looking to sell eOne’s film and television properties to multiple studios, including the Lombardo-run TV operations. In case you missed out, Dungeons & Dragons is being adapted into an action movie dubbed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which will premiere on March 31. Other than that, Deadline reported that the live-action series will be the studio’s largest-scope project ever, launching a new universe that includes multiple scripted and unscripted shows.

Paramount+ and eOne could produce one of the most faithful adaptations based on a gaming franchise, despite Dungeons & Dragons featuring plenty of unrelated stories. It covers a number of tales of humans, elves, orcs, and other creatures engaged in conflict and treasure hunting throughout various realms.
