Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalonis a lengthy journey that spans upwards of fifty hours, if not significantly more if you take your sweet time. There are many side quests that can be taken upon, most of which you will need to find yourself, but one such mission happens after entering the first settlement you come across after crash landing. While it may be one of your first side quests, it’s one of the longer ones, spanning multiple tasks.

Accepting the Quest
Upon entering the Horns of the South for the first time, take an immediate right, and you will come across a much fresher face than the sleeping guard out front. He’s far from the most capable or lovely mug. Instead, we have Orlaith, the Horn’s very own vendor who, at first, will have some expensive items, but after a little while, you will gain enough gold to purchase from her.
Regardless, when you first interact with Orlaith, she is a little upset, looking for someone with her shipment. She asks you to go find someone named Breandan in order to hopefully retrieve her delivery. That man happens to be the captain of the whole operation, but she actually wants you to find a woman named Nest. She doesn’t know exactly where she is, but Orlaith gives you a clue to point you in the right direction: “somewhere around the bay… near the Whale’s Tooth.”

Looking for Nest
The Whale’s Tooth is a good direction as you will need to go to the large stone structure to the north of the Horns of the South (The Archspire) is where you’ll want to be looking. Right when you get here, you will be met by two unsavory gentlemen, one of whom has a bow and arrow, while the other uses magic and takes pretty wide swings at you.
If you have just arrived at the Horns for the first time, you’ll likely be at a low level, and these two bandits will be a big challenge for you. We recommend getting a couple of levels on your belt before taking this conquest on. Regardless, after you’ve dispatched both men, you may huddle around the fire if you want, but you’ll also notice a jail cell in the back with a poor soul in it. This is Nest. It would seem the bandits caught him and took him prisoner. Why they didn’t outright kill him is beyond us, but regardless, it’s good they didn’t.

After talking to Nest and letting him go, he will tell you he stashed Orlaith’s goods in the northwest. Head up there but be cautious of the bears and the rather large bandit hideout nearby, otherwise you’ll get some unwanted attention. You will find a decimated stone structure on your way with a little package sticking out of the ground beside it.
Finding a Shovel
You will need a shovel/spade in order to dig this out. If you don’t have one, you can find one in the bandit camp. Head inside and stick to the first floor. There will be a campfire and an alchemy station behind it. To the immediate right of the alchemy station will be a pile of rubble, and beside that will be a singular box with a shovel inside.
Once you’ve acquired the shovel, dig up the chest and take it back to Orlaith. She will thank you, but there’s another part of the quest that needs doing. It would seem that she was asked to take this package all the way to the northeast, which is far east of the Whale’s Tooth and near the water, and shoot it with a special type of arrow.

Heading there, you will be met with a rather oversized mini-boss that needs to be taken down. After doing so, plant the box on some rubble and shoot the fire arrows at it. As you might expect, this comes with a rather large explosion, so step back. Afterward, you will find that this opens up a small hole and ladder that goes down to a prison where a man is experimenting with food. This is another questline, but now that the job is done, head back to Orlaith and inform her your little adventure is complete.
