Early on in your adventures inClair Obscur: Expedition 33, you will likely run into rather large and intimidating monsters. The story even points one of the larger, lanky ones out to you, saying that it might be a good idea to try and take them down, at least not yet. Well, they serve a bigger purpose than simply looking intimidating, as there’s a side quest relatively early on, past the Floating Waters, and into a small burrow.

Where to Find All Lost Gestrals in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Our funny little friends are lost in Expedition 33, and so it’s up to us to lead them back home.

The Small Bourgeon

The Bourgeon is the name of the larger monsters you will see at a distance early on, but it also happens to be tied to the name of a location just past the Float Waters. After coming out of the first major area, you will be able to find this location nearby. Upon entering the location, you will be met with the smallest, most adorable little creature, or at least more adorable than anything we’ve run into thus far.

This is a Bourgeon, or at least a small one, and all he ever wants is to be big like his brothers. He is significantly smaller than all the others you have seen, as they are skyscraper-sized and this one you could probably have as a pet, as it’s the size of a dog or child. As you talk to him, he gives you the suggestion to help him grow: he needs to ingest something.

Finding Something Edible

The question is now, what exactly do you need to help the little guy grow? The answer is the blood of his siblings. That’s right, your goal now is to go into the wild and take down one of these hulking beasts and bring back their remains to the Small Bourgeon and let it ingest it for it to grow big and strong.

It’s kind of morbid if you think about it, but off you go to find one of the giants in the wild. There are a couple in the area, such as the one guarding the Lost Gestral to the northeast, but be warned, these are not easy to take down. While their rancid spit attack is easy to parry, they are able to eat party members, and you only get them back if you break the monster. On top of that, their melee combo can be a bit tricky to get the hang of, as, despite being massive creatures, they are surprisingly fast with their fists.

After defeating one of these creatures, you will obtain aBourgeon Skin, and this will be enough to help the little one. Return to the Small Bourgeon and hand over the item. He will say it will take time, so all you need to do isexit and rest at camp for one night. Return to the small Bourgeon to find he’s no longer all that small but just like the others. He will thank you and in return spit out a reward. If you are feeling a bit violent, you’re also able to attack the Bourgeon.
