XDefiant, Ubisoft’s free-to-play Call of Duty rival, hasn’t had the smoothest launch. In addition to plenty of server problems, some players have also been having issues with stuttering during their matches.

The game runs well on most hardware thanks to solid optimization and low system requirements, but stuttering can affect even the highest-end machines because of some quirks with XDefiant’s settings. Thankfully, there are some easy fixes you can try if stuttering is ruining your K/D in XDefiant.

How to Fix Stuttering in XDefiant

If you’re experiencing stuttering when playing XDefiant on PC, then there are a few settings you can tweak in the graphics menu that can fix the issue. Firstly, go into the game’s graphics settings and disable theEnabled Reduced Latencyfeature. Next, lower theExtra Streaming Distancesetting to zero.

Some XDefiant players have also reported that running the game inWindowed (Fullscreen)mode instead of native Fullscreen has fixed their performance problems, as the game tends to lag when set to exclusive Fullscreen. Also, you should enable theDX12 Rendererif your PC supports it.

This should solve the stuttering issue for most people. If that doesn’t fix your issue, then you may need to make some adjustments to your mouse. If yourmouse’s polling rateis set too high, then it can cause stutters in some situations when playing shooters like XDefiant. To lower your mouse’s polling rate, open the software that you use to customize its settings likeRazer Synapse or Logitech G Hub. We recommend setting it to 1000hz or slightly lower.

These fixes have worked for most XDefiant players and have solved their stuttering problems, but since every PC configuration is unique, you might be out of luck after trying these supposed solutions. If that’s the case, update your drivers, restart your PC, and hope for the best. More XDefiant patches are on the way to fix some of the morecritical bugs from the launch window, so hopefully stutters will be addressed as well.
