X – the social networking platformformerly known as Twitter– has silently updatedits Terms of Service: as of November 15, you’ll no longer have the ability to opt-out of having your data used to help train itsGrok AImodel.

This development comes just a few months after the Elon Musk-owned microblogging site began automatically toggling on a Data Sharing setting across user accounts. While on, the setting allows your in-app data to be used to train the company’s in-house AI.

How to set your X (Twitter) account to private to protect those tweets from prying eyes

Set your X account to private so that only accounts you approve will be able to see your tweets.

Neither X nor Musk have issued any official statement regarding the change as of yet, but the information is spreading across the internet like wildfire.

“You agree that this license includes the right for us to (i) provide, promote, and improve the Services, including, for example, for use with and training of our machine learning and artificial intelligence models, whether generative or another type,” reads the updated Terms of Service document.

Back in July,it didn’t take longfor people to notice the data sharing toggle and express initial concern over the apparent lack of transparency in the decision-making process.

The toggle itself reads, “Allow your posts as well as your interactions, inputs, and results with Grok to be used for training and fine-tuning,” and it specifies that results may also be shared with the xAI service provider in the process.

How to disable data sharing on X

The method is fairly straightforward, as long as you’re using a Mac or a PC

Thankfully, it’s fairly easy to make your way over to settings and disable the sharing of data, if you don’t want it to be used to train Grok AI. Less fortunately, it appears that the opt-out setting isn’t long for this world. For as long as the option is accessible, here’s how to access it.

To do so via the web, make sure you’re logged into your account and follow these steps:

Alternatively, you can quickly access the Data Sharing setting by followingthis direct link.

It should be noted that at this time, there doesn’t appear to be an option to disable the setting through the mobile app on eitheriOSorAndroid.

It’s unlikely that we’ll see the option be added in any future mobile app updates, seeing as how the toggle is slated for removal in its entirety in November.

How to download and save videos from X (Twitter)

X (Twitter) doesn’t have a tool for saving videos, so you might think that you’re out of luck, but it’s easy to download on mobile or desktop.
