Clash of Clansintroduces a new helper, the Alchemist, in its massive February 2025 patch. The Alchemist joins the Builder Apprentice and the Lab Assistant to help players progress.
While the two other helpers reduce research and building time, the Alchemist can convert resources. Here’s how to unlock the Alchemist and use the resource conversion in Clash of Clans.
How to Unlock the Alchemist in Clash of Clans
The Alchemist is auseful NPC in the Helper Hut. You’ll unlock the Alchemist after reaching Town Hall 11. She’s immediately seen in the Helper’s Hut, but you must spend Gems to unlock her. She costs 100 Gems to unlock, which is not bad, especially for the utility she brings, which is resource conversion.
Once you unlock the Alchemist, she’ll start as level one, and you’ll need to spend Gems to upgrade her if you want “better” value on your resource conversions.

How to Convert Resources in Clash of Clans
To convert resources, go to the Helper’s Hut and select the Alchemist. You’ll get a new window with lists of your resources. The left side contains resources that you want to convert, while the right side shows you what you’ll get in return. you may cycle through whichever resource you to convert.
You can do this once every day, and considering that there’s a conversion bonus, daily is a good idea. The resource conversion is instantaneous, so you don’t have to wait. Before you upgrade the Alchemist, you should look at the conversion table to see if it is worth it or not.

The resource conversion bonus looks significant enough to help players earn more, but the Gem costs are already too expensive at level four. While the initial 100 Gems to unlock the Alchemist is affordable, the remaining upgrades look lackluster.
The biggest dump of resources, which are walls, can be purchased with either Gold or Elixir, so you are mostly looking at conversions to Dark Elixir for those who want to upgrade their pets, heroes, dark spells, and dark troops. Dark Elixir is hard to accumulate, especially since everyone is likely upgrading their heroes since theHero Hall November patch in 2024.
Getting that extra Dark Elixir is a helpful boost, but as you can see in the table, Dark Elixir doesn’t get a massive boost until level seven. It is up to you and whether you have Gems to spend, but I highly suggest just going for level one to three if you are a free-to-play user.
