Threat Level
Unlike other boss-level threats, the Impalerspawns in trios, leading your team to have to defeat it three times at the same time. The Impaler will leap and lunge around the area, attempting to separate you and your teammates, often ramming its blade against them. The Impaler will start glowing and hunch over when it’s preparing its missiles; take that moment to fire at the cores on its back to interrupt its charge.
Each Impaler acts individually from the others. However, they share the same habits in which they will climb up to high ground where players are, especially if they are separated from the group, and give clear indicators of drawing back their large forearms before leaping in the direction they’re currently facing. Thered bladeattached to its face will glow and increase the Impaler’s attack, also preventing interruptions.

Aim for thebladefirst to destroy it to make openings for you and your team, as interruptions will become available once the blade is destroyed, the glow will stop, and the Impaler will jerk backwards to indicate a successful hit.
The best method is to constantly rotate your targeted impaler while constantly moving whenever possible. Movement ensures it can’t lunge on you as easily, and rotation allows you to damage multiple at the same time.

On stage two, not many changes aside from the Impalers becoming more erratic in movement. The remaining Impalers will become more aggressive, and their charging will seem shorter, so keeping all three at similar damage levels is recommended to ensure they go down within the same timeframe to avoid any of them from buffing in the other’s absence.
If possible, knock-down effects and freeze abilities can temporarily pause the Impaler during its rampage, allowing you and your team to focus on the cores and destroy them. At this point, the cores around their back and forearms should be destroyed or near destroyed. Focus on each core to prevent any further use of its missiles and the majority of its movement-based abilities. Once all the cores are destroyed, taking down the Impalers in a domino effect will be simple.

Once the Impaler goes down, you’ll receive the achievement:Stabbing Painand the achievement:Sharp Instinctsfor completing the challenge in Hard mode.
