TheInvincibleanimated series recently wrapped up its second season, which continues to explore the conflict between Mark Gryason and the Viltrum Empire. The second season, similar to the comics, expands upon Omni-Man’s prophecy for his son, which predicts he will outlive most of his friends and family.
However, in the comics, this prophecy is proven wrong by Mark’s love interest, Atom Eve. In the final issue of the comics, Atom Eve finally unlocks her true superpower, which had been hidden until this point. Her new superpower not only proves why she is considered one of the strongest beings in the universe, but also dismisses Omni-Man’s prophecy, and here is how.
How Atom Eve’s Secret Superpower Proves Omni-Man’s Prophecy Wrong
Written byRobert Kirkman, theInvinciblecomic book ran for 144 issues between 2003 and 2018. It primarily explores the story of Mark Grayson, as he tries to become Earth’s greatest superhero. In the comics and its animated adaptation, Mark charts his own path after learning that his father,Omni-Manis from an alien race trying to conquer Earth.
At the time, Omni-Man prophesied that Mark will outlive all of his loved ones on Earth as viltrumites live longer than most races. Therefore, Omni-Man believes that Mark will never get a happy ending as he will be forced to witness the loss of his loved ones over time, leaving him all alone. However, this prophecy is proven wrong in the comic’s final issue.

Inissue #144, Mark’s love interest Samantha Eve Wilkins / Atom Eve, who is known to have molecular manipulation powers, unlocks a new stage of regeneration abilities. While Atom Eve displayed regenerative abilities in the past, in the final issue she rearranges her molecular structure to regenerate her dying body and returns to life as her younger self.
Atom Eve Needs to Die to Unlock Her Secret Superpower
In the final issue, a flash-forward sequence shows Mark and his daughter, Terra, visiting an elderly Atom Eve, who is on her deathbed. However, after Atom Eve bids farewell to Mark and her daughter, she unknowingly unlocks her secret superpower, which transforms her molecular structure and brings her back to life, proving that she is immortal.
Atom Eve’s secret superpower is revealed to be immortality, meaning she can be with Mark for most of his extended life span. Since viltrumites live thousands of years, Mark faced the dreadful reality of being alone and without the love of his life. However, Atom Eve unlocking her immortality proves Omni-Man wrong and gives Mark and herthe happy ending the couple deserves.

The animated adaptation is also likely to follow a similar path when it eventually arrives at its conclusion. As a result, the series will depict Atom Eve unlocking her secret superpower. However, if the comics are any proof, she will first have to die to use her regenerative powers. Moreover, these powers might also extend to Mark, leaving him and Atom Eve to live long and prosperous lives.
