Jonathan Majors’s hopes of making a return to Hollywood have already taken a dive, as following report that his upcoming featureMagazine Dreamshas reportedly been shelved for good, the actor has been fired from another project. This time, it is Majors' appearance as basketball player Dennis Rodman in a film under the working title of48 Hours in Vegasthat has dropped the actor, and has also lost its studio, Lionsgate. This means that the producers, including Rodman, Phil Lord and Chis Miller, will have to shop around for another home for the project as well as a new star.
The news came viaVarietyjust a day after it was reported thatMagazine Dreamsis not likely to be released. The movie, led by Majors, comes from Searchlight Pictures, and being owned by Disney, they immediately pulled the shutters down on the film’s planned release in the wake of Major’s conviction. While there was initially a belief that the film could just be delayed,The Hollywood Reporterhas now revealed that there is a strong chance the film has been shelved completely and will never be released. According to insiders, the “problematic” situation has led to a belief that there is no “scenario in which Searchlight opens the movie on the big screen,” and it is “highly unlikely” that it will head to either Hulu or Disney+ as a streaming exclusive. Considering the movie’s themes of violence, it seems like this dream is certainly over.

Jonathan Majors recently spoke out for the first time since being found guilty of assaulting and harassing his former girlfriend and beingfired from his huge role as Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a sit-down interview with ABC News Live, which aired onGood Morning America, the actor continued to claim his innocence as he stated his feelings of shock at the verdict, and addressed his thoughts on possibly returning to Hollywood in the future.
Just over a year ago, Jonathan Majors was a man who was going straight to the top of the movie world. With a starring role inCreed IIIalongside Michael B. Jordan, and as the “new Thanos” of the MCU, it was as if the actor could do no wrong. However, that all came crashing down very quickly at the end of the year, when Majors was found guilty of reckless assault and harassment of Grace Jabbari.
Within hours of the verdict, Marvel Studios dropped the actor fromhis pivotal role in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, and the actor’s prospects suddenly looked very bleak. Now, as he awaits sentencing on February 6, the actor remains “confused” and “shocked” at the conclusion made at his trial, as he explained in the interview.
I’m standing there and the verdict comes down. I say, ‘How is that possible based off the evidence, based off the prosecution’s evidence, let alone our evidence? How is that possible?’

Jonathan Majors Prays He Will Return to Hollywood
Majors did not deny that there were issues with his relationship with British dancer Jabbari, who he met while working onAnt-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,but he remains adamant that he has “never hit a woman.” He said:
I was reckless with her heart, not with her body.
Briefly recounting the events that took place in March 2023, when the assault that he has been convicted of took place, Majors recalled:
“She went to grab the phone. I held the phone. I pulled the phone back. She came on top of me, squeezed my face, slapped me. That’s all I remember. I wish to god I knew [how she got her injuries]. That would give clarity. That would give me some type of peace about it. I’m an athlete. I’m a sportsman. I know my body. I know how it moves. I know my strength, or lack thereof, you know? None of that was employed on her.”
Despite his impending sentencing, Majors does hope to recommence working in Hollywood. When asked about whether he can see a time that he will be back on screens again, he said:
I pray I do, but it’s God’s plan and God’s timing.
Meanwhile, despite Majors’ continued protestations of his innocence, Jabbari’s legal team were not able to let the interview pass without making their own statement on the matter. Focusing on Major’s attitude towards the jury’s decision, attorney Brittany Henderson said in a statement (as perDeadline):
“His denigration of our jury system is not dissimilar from the above-the-law attitude that he has maintained throughout this legal process … The timing of these new statements demonstrates a clear lack of remorse for the actions for which he was found guilty and should make the sentencing decisions fairly easy for the court.”
Majors has already stated that he will fight his conviction, but with both sides continuing to stand by their version of events, we can only wait and see if there are still more twists to come in this story.
