This installment follows everyone’s favorite vengeful assassin as he returns to take out the High Table, who left him for dead afterJohn Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. The fourth film in theJohn Wickseriesjust arrived on Hulu on August 15. Of course, it didn’t take long for the intense, action-packed flick to blow fans away yet again and dominate the Hulu streaming charts. But that’s not the onlyKeanu Reeves-led filmoccupying the Hulu Top 15 Movies list. Sitting at the number eleven spot is the firstJohn Wickfilm in the franchise, which follows the highly skilled assassin as he comes out of retirement after witnessing the murder of his dog.
Unlike Stephen King’sThe Monkey,John Wick: Chapter 4performed extremely well at the box office and was widely praised by audiences, too. While this is the fourth film in the long-running franchise, and itstillmanaged to be a massive hit amongst viewers and movie critics, it is quite an accomplishment. According toRotten Tomatoes,John Wick: Chapter 4received a 94% rating on the Tomatometer and received a 93% score on the Popcornmeter. To say that John Wick: Chapter 4 was a box office success would be an understatement. Per Box Office Mojo, the fourth film grossed $447 million worldwide ($187 million domestically and $260 million internationally).
It has been two years sinceJohn Wick: Chapter 4premiered in theaters. Although John Wick is presumed dead at the end of the fourth film, that hasn’t stopped fans from asking about a possibleJohn Wick 5.
Is Keanu Reeves Returning for ‘John Wick 5’?
Why yes, he is. In April 2025,John Wick5was confirmed by Lionsgate during CinemaCon. It was also confirmed that Keanu Reeves will be returning for the fifth installment in theJohn Wickseries. However, fans might have to wait longer forJohn Wick 5to hit theaters. You see, Keanu Reeves and his formerBill & Tedcostar, Alex Winter, are in the middle of rehearsing their upcoming Broadway production of Samuel Beckett’sWaiting for Godot. In a new interview withBroadway.com, Reeves shared how he’s been “drained” from preparing for his Broadway debut. He told the publication:
“It’s like your brain is drained, your body is drained, your emotions are drained. In a good way.”
Reeves will star in the Broadway production ofWaiting for Godotfrom June 01, 2025, to July 10, 2025. The play will only be shown for a limited time at Broadway’s Hudson Theatre. Plus, theJohn Wickstar will soon take part in the press tour for the upcoming filmGood Fortune, which is set to premiere in theaters in October 2025. In the film,Reeves plays an angel named Gabrielwho inserts himself into the lives of a struggling gig worker and a wealthy venture capitalist. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the actor will reprise both roles inConstantine 2: Descent Into HellandThe Matrix 5.Needless to say, Reeves is going to be booked and busy for the rest of 2025 and part of 2026. But don’t worry, Reeves will be back to playing our favorite ruthless assassin inJohn Wick 5in no time.
