In the latest episode ofCreator to Creator, during a conversation with film director and writerAlex Garland(28 Days Later, Civil War),Neil Druckmann—creator of The Last of Us and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet—referred to the new Naughty Dog game asa franchise with a future, both in video games and possibly other media.
This aligns with previous hints, such as ajob listing for a combat animator, which described the game as"the first in a franchise,“or thedescription of its first trailer on YouTube, which mentioned a"new franchise in development.“However, Druckmann also noted thatthe game is still in development, andits release date remains unknown, making it unclear whether it will launch in2026.
