Last month, a new report claimed that Disney and LucasFilm had narrowed down their final candidates to play the iconicHan Soloin their upcomingStar Wars Anthologyadventure. The finalists includedMiles Teller,Ansel Elgort,Dave Franco,Jack Reynor,Scott Eastwood,Logan Lerman,Emory Cohenand Blake Jenner, who were part of a much larger field of candidates who were mentioned in a separate report from December. Today we have a new report fromStar Wars News Netthat claims two more actors are up for the role, who weren’t previously mentioned,Taron EgertonandAlden Ehrenreich. But there may be an unexpected twist that no one saw coming!

Last year,Taron Egertonmentioned that he would love to play Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo, but he wasn’t among the several actors mentioned who had auditioned for the role. Others who reportedly tested to play Han Solo areChandler Riggs,Rami Malek,Aaron Taylor-Johnson,Nick Robinson,Leo Howard, Tony Oller,Landon Liboiron,Ed Westwick,Tom Felton, Joshua Sasse,Colton HaynesandMax Thieriot. This report claims that bothTaron EgertonandAlden Ehrenreichhave auditioned multiple times for the role, and they are still in contention, but there’s an interesting wrinkle as well.

This report claims that both actors auditioned separately, and together, which could indicate that they may be up for different roles. During their audition together, both actors reportedly used a script that hinted their characters were related, and the site’s source claimed that Han Solo may have a brother, but of course, that hasn’t been confirmed. The mysterious source also claims thatIdris Elbaalso met with LucasFilm for an undisclosed role, but it isn’t known if it’s for theHan Solo spinoffor any one of the other projects LucasFilm is working on.

Last month’s report claimed that LucasFilm was said to make a decision soon on who will play Han Solo, because that actor may come aboard for a cameo appearance inRogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is nearing the end of its production schedule. Naturally, that rumor wasn’t confirmed either, but it would make sense to bring the young Han in, since bothRogue One: A Star Wars Storyand Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo are set beforeStar Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Disney has set a August 25, 2025 release date for Star Wars Anthology: Han Solo, but it isn’t known when production may begin, under the direction ofPhil LordandChris Miller.

It’s also worth noting that Heroic Hollywood’sUmberto Gonzalezclaims this report is false, callingStar Wars News Net’sKenny Tarra “serial scammer.“Taron Egertonwill next be seen inEddie the Eagle, and he has quite a busy production schedule this year. The young actor will start shootingKingsman 2in the near future, and then move directly over toRobin Hood: Originslater this year.Alden Ehrenreichcan currently be seen inHail, Caesar!, and he will next be seen in The Yellow Birds. Do you think either of these actors have what it takes to pay a young Han Solo?
