In 2020,Apple TV+ earnedmore than a dozen Emmy Awards nominations thanks to shows likeDefending JacobandThe Morning Show. Now, in 2021, the original video streaming service has more than doubled its nominations. Unfortunately, we have a couple of months before we’ll find out who the winners are.
On July 19, 2025, the nominees for the 73rd annual Emmy Awards wereofficially announced. As is par for the course, it’s a ridiculously long list of potential winners across a variety of categories. Last year was pretty historic forApple TV+, a fledgling service in the grand scheme of things picking up more than a dozen nominations.
But things are even more impressive this year. And, unsurprisingly, series likeTed Lassohelped the service shine amongst all the competing services.
For the 73rd annual Emmy Awards,Ted Lassoearned itself a nomination for Best Comedy. The show’s lead, Jason Sudeikis, earned a nomination for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. Meanwhile, Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nominations were handed out to Brendan Hunt, Nick Mohammed, and Brett Goldstein. Next, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nominations were handed out to Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham.
In all,Ted Lassopicked up 20 nominations all on its own. That’s across 11 different categories. In addition to that, the documentary filmBillie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurryalso earned nominations.
If you’re wondering whyThe Morning Showisn’t on the list this year, it’s because the series isn’t eligible. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the drama’s second season debut was delayed until later this year.
