The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world RPG and the debut game fromRebel Wolves—a studio founded by severalCD Projekt REDveterans who worked onThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt(2015), including its director—has revealed its first gameplay footage, once again confirming its2026 releaseonPS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
The Blood of Dawnwalker Gameplay
In this 20-minute video, we get our first look at what it’s like to play this action RPG set in a14th-century Europeravaged by war and the Black Plague, withvampires as the main characters.
The footage, captured from apre-beta PC version, followsCoen, a half-vampire on a mission that takes him to the largest city ofVale Sangorain search of alegendary weaponhidden within a cathedral.

However, the world is filled withside activities, from exploring ancient ruins to sabotaging blood caravans and fighting off bandits.
Dynamic Day and Night Gameplay
The game revolves around aday/night cycle. During the day, Coen’s health doesnot regenerate naturally—a challenge, sinceHexes(spells) consume life points—but he can recover by eating.
At night, however, he canfeed on humans and creaturesto regain health, using a system that lets players decide how much to drain—ranging from making the victim faint to killing them outright.

That said,killing important characters can have consequences. Guard vigilance also changes depending on how much havoc you’ve caused, forcing the player to choose between stealth or openly challenging the vampire lords.
The game world isdense and richly detailed, withliving citieswhere NPCs talk to one another—even to other races like theUriash.

Player choices, whether in quests or free exploration, canunlock alternate routes, new objectives, or hidden secrets.
Combat and Abilities
The Blood of Dawnwalkerfeatures acombat system similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, based ondirectional attacksaimed at breaking the enemy’s guard.
Coen can fight with asword during the day, but when night falls, he unleashes hisclaws, and can evenmix both styles.
As he deals damage, he builds up energy to unleashspecial attackslikeBurning Blood, which causes lingering damage, orArtery Attack, capable ofdecapitating enemies.
