Summary
Jeffrey Dean Morgan shares his reaction to starring in a potentialThe Boysspinoff. More shows set in the universe of the irreverent superhero series are entirely possible. In addition toThe Boysseason 5, which has been renewed, the series has already spawned spinoffs, including the animated anthologyDiabolical, the college-setGen V(which has already been renewed for season 2), and an upcoming series set in Mexico. Morgan joined the flagship show as CIA officer Joe Kessler in season 4, which premiered on Prime Video on June 13.
On X/Twitter,Jeffrey Dean Morganshared a screenshot from aDeadlineinterview withThe Boyscreator Eric Kripke where he mentions that he would be excited to do a spinoff about Kessler. Check it out below:

In Morgan’s post, which Kripke later reposted to his own page, he says, “ha!! Kripke!!! don’t you play with my emotions! you know i’m in. sign me the hell up! (checking schedule right now!)” While responding to various replies to his post, Morgan again asserted thathe would very willingly clear his scheduleto work with Kripke again.
It seems likely that a newThe Boysspinoffwouldn’t launch until the series ends with its upcoming season 5. However,Morgan has already proved his willingness to stick with a television franchisethrough to the end and beyond. He set this precedent with his role in theWalking Deadfranchise, in which he played Negan, the cruel and violent leader of a group called the Saviors who committed one of the show’s grisliest and most shocking murders, ridding the flagship series of one of its main characters.

Just like with his delayed entry intotheBoyscast, Morgan wasn’t part ofThe Walking Deadfrom the beginning. However, after first appearing in season 6, he became part of the main cast in season 7 and continued starring on the show until it ended with season 11. After that, he reunited with his co-star Lauren Cohan for the spinoffThe Walking Dead: Dead City, a Manhattan-set show that was renewed for season 2 just one month after it premiered on AMC.
Dead Citywas the firstWalking Deadspinoff to premiere after the end of the flagship series, followed byDaryl DixonandThe Ones Who Live.
Given his seeming willingness to commit to franchises as long as they will have him, he has marked himself as the perfect lead for aThe Boysspinoff. While his commitment toDead Cityseason 2 may interfere with his ability to appear in season 5 or a Kessler spinoff, Morgan seems intent on making it happen. It remains to be seen if anything comes to fruition, but the fact that both Kripke and Morgan have already commented publicly on the possibility could help push the show into development.
