Ahead ofPrime Day 2025, which is set to kick off tomorrow, July 8, Amazon is already jumping on the discount bandwagon in a big way. A bundled varient of the company’s first-ever color eReader, the Kindle Colorsoft, is currently listed for a price of $212 – a $151 discount over its standard MSRP. The promo is applicable to any and all paid Prime members in the US.
Specifically, Amazon is discounting the Colorsoft Signature Edition Essentials Bundle, which includes the eReader with 32 GB of storage capacity and in a black colorway. The bundle also comes with a plant-based leather cover (in a choice of jade, raspberry, or black), as well as a wireless charging dock.
In terms of specifications, the Kindle Colorsoft itself features a 7-inch color ePaper display, USB-C and inductive Qi charging,IPX8 water resistance, and a battery that can last up to ten weeks on a single charge, according to Amazon.

Aside from slow refresh rates, ePaper displays have traditionally been held back by their lack of vibrant color output. This isn’t a concern within the context of eReading a standard novel or block of written text, but it poses a problem when it comes to magazines, comics, and other written works that rely heavily on imagery.
Thankfully, progress has been made on the color-endowed ePaper front. The E-Ink company has made strides in bringing a vivid and colorful ePaper experience to market in the form ofits Spectra Technology,and other players like Samsunghave also been innovating in the space.
Various tech brands are now bringing products with colorful ePaper displays to the market. Amazon’s first-generation Kindle Colorsoft is one such example, but other notable examples include thereMarkable Paper Pro, the BOOX Note Air4 C, and the Kobo Clara Colour.
Amazon Prime Day 2025 is set to take place from July 8 through 11.
