Enhance your trainees and support cards in Umamusume: Pretty Derby to unlock powerful skills, higher stats, and better racing performance.
Beginning a Career Mode run in Umamusume: Pretty Derby starts off your chosen trainee with her base stats, regardless of how much you may have trained her in a previous run. However, the game has roguelike elements, and there are several ways you’re able to gain an advantage at the start of a new run.
One effective way of gaining an advantage early on is to enhance your trainees and support cards. This article will explore how enhancement works and the currencies required for it.
Umamusume Pretty Derby: Enhancement Guide
From the home page, click on the “Enhance” tab at the bottom left to open the Enhance menu. From here, you can choose “Trainee” to raise your horse girls’potentiallevel or “Support Card” to raise their level.
Enhancing Trainees
On the Trainee Menu, you can choose either “Potential Levels” or “Star Unlock.”
Potential Levels
Using materials earned in Career Mode, you may increase the Potential Level of any trainee in your roster. There are five Potential Levels in total, and each oneunlocks a new skillfor your uma to learn during a career run.
For example, at level 5,Oguri Caplearns ‘Corner Connoisseur.’ The skill dramatically increases acceleration on a corner. Once her potential is leveled up, the uma can learn the skill during a new career and subsequently pass it on as a Legacy during inspiration events.
Star Unlock
Increasing the star level of your trainee is akin to a traditional level up, as itincreases all base stats and levels up her unique skill. To upgrade star level, you’ll needStar Piecesof the character. you may get star pieces during story events, daily shops, special missions, andLegend Races.
Alternatively, exchange Statues for specific star pieces. Once the statue limit of a particular character’s star piece is reached, the number of Statues required to get one star piece increases. Statues are obtained when you pull duplicate characters in the game’s gacha system.
Enhancing Support Cards
Leveling up the Support Cards you use in Career Mode is critical to a successful run. You can select Support Cards and choose how far to level them up. The process costs a relatively low amount of Monies and SP, which are the most common currencies in the game.
Increasing Support Card levels unlocks new bonuses during the career, such as an improved initialFriendship Bond, additional energy replenishment, and frequency of events. However, Support Cards cannot be improved beyond a point without uncapping them.
The Uncap menu allows you to remove the level restriction on Support Cards. Uncapping a card consumes a duplicate Support Card. You need to uncap a card four times to fully unlock its level cap. Each time you uncap it, the resource requirement for each level up increases.
