Nirnroot is harvested from the uncommon nirnroot plant inOblivion Remastered. It serves as an alchemy ingredient that is also required to complete the ‘Seeking Your Roots’ quest, which activates as soon as you collect your first nirnroot. When you speak to the alchemist Sinderion in Skingrad at the West Weald Inn, he initially requests 10 nirnroots for his research and points you to Shadeleaf Copse. However, the area only yields a single nirnroot, and the rest must be found through exploration.
Where Do Nirnroot Plants Grow?
The nirnroot plant is found near waterbodies where there is very little direct sunlight, near rocks, and in crevices. While searching for nirnroot plants or exploring the map, its high-pitched ringing sound can give away its position. The plant is small and has six jagged leaves of a bluish-green shade. It can sometimes also be found indoors in pots.
If you want to gather around 50 nirnroot for the ‘Seeking Your Roots’ quest at once, travel along both shorelines of Lake Rumare down to Leyawiin while keeping your ears tuned to the plant’s ring. Additionally, there are two nirnroot plants in Shardrock and two on the northeast shore of Topal Bay, southeast of the Tidewater Cave.
All in all, there are just over 300 nirnroot plants in Oblivion Remastered. However, they do not regrow and can therefore be completely exhausted.
How To Get Elixirs of Exploration in Oblivion Remastered
After bringing Sinderion the first batch of 10 nirnroots, he rewards you with a Weak Elixir of Exploration and asks for more of the plants. The quest unfolds across four stages, each requiring a higher number of nirnroot to proceed. Sinderion needs a total of 100 nirnroot to complete his research, offering progressively stronger Elixirs of Exploration as rewards.
These potions boost stats like Speed, Endurance, and Health, and become available for purchase from the alchemist as well. Here is a list of the Elixir of Exploration potions and when they become available:
Each Elixir of Exploration lasts 300 seconds. One of each is given free upon completion of its respective collection quest and becomes available for purchase thereafter. After completing all stages of ‘Seeking Your Roots,’ Sinderion offers 250 gold for every 10 nirnroots you give to him.
